Always a friend to motorsports, Tag Heuer recently unveiled their most recent homage to racing; the Tag Heuer Monaco Twenty Four. Inspired by the 24 Hours of LeMans the Monoco Twenty Four not only looks the part – the stripes found on the watch face draw on inspiration from Gulf Oil sponsored vehicles (as well as Tag Heuer Ambassator Steve McQueen’s Racesuit in his 1970 file ‘LeMans’) – but performs beyond even tomorrows standards.

The Monoco Twenty Four features advanced protection thanks to a shock-absorbing composite filter material that comprises the manifold’s arms. This material insulates the Calibre 36 movement by directing vibrations into the composite filter, which absorbs and dissipates their energy. Unlike a conventional timepiece’s Incabloc system, which protects the mechanism only from external shocks, TAG Heuer’s revolutionary Advanced Dynamic Absorber insulates the movement entirely. Even more impressive, the Monaco Twenty Four is able to withstand an impact of 24,000 G, the equivalent of a 65-foot fall, compared with the industry standard of 2,000 – 5,000 G, or a three-foot fall.

This summer VW owners will rejoice and rush to dealerships to sink their teeth into the newest Golf GTI. Aesthetic changes borrow a bit from the new VW Sciorocco and adds style and modernization to one of the most recognizable chassis on the road. Power gets a bit of a bump; 210HP and 206ft/lbs of torque from a turbocharged 2.0L which will clok in at 6.9sec 0-60 and a 149MPH top speed.

A slew of options will be available including either a six-speed manual or six-speed dual clutch gearbox, DCC active damping, and XDS electronic differentials that monitor power distribution.

COBB Tuning has outdone itself with the COBB 3” Downpipe for the 2007-2008 MazdaSpeed 3, which is a study in engineering design and artistic execution. The COBB 3” Downpipe replaces a very restrictive element in the Mazdaspeed3 exhaust system. Considerable effort was spent designing a flow path with the fewest number of direction changes and minimal degrees of bend in order to eliminate restrictions. This beautifully fabricated downpipe delivers significantly improved exhaust flow, resulting in faster turbo response time and power gains across the entire rev range, while still protecting the environment with its highly efficient custom catalytic converter.
