AEM has just introduced a Cold Air Intake for the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX and WRX STI 2.5L Turbo. This special edition intake system features a wrinkle red powdercoat finish specifically chosen for the Subaru models. The CAI uses a very clean designed heatshield that blocks hot air from the huge 9-inch DRYFLOW air filter. A CNC’d MAF adapter along with a built-in air straightener keep CELs away and fuel trims perfectly in line. This CAI generates amazing HP and Torque gains across the powerband on both the WRX and STI models.
AEM PR: Evo X Cold Air Intake
AEM has just released a Cold Air Intake for the all-new ‘08 Mitsubishi EVO X. To gain power from the 4B11 MIVEC, AEM designed a fully enclosed airbox to house a 3×5″ DRYFLOW performance filter & utilize the factory air duct to draw the coolest air possible. The cross-linked polyethylene airbox leads into an aluminum CNC-machined MAF adapter which feeds the turbo by way of a high-flow turbo inlet constructed of ultra-strong EPDM rubber.
iPhone is Dynolicious
Since playing old school NES on you iPhone has become passé it’s time to start using your iPhone the way it was intended – as a Dyno.
Using the iPhones built in accelerometer, the guys at Dynolicious have developed an application that will allow you to measure your vehicles performance without all the fuss of strapping your car to rollers. Dynolicious measures the following, and reports including some very cool graphs:
- 0-60 MPH
- Other Speed Tests (0-10 MPH through 0-100 MPH in 10MPH increments)
- Quarter Mile Elapsed Time
- Quarter Mile Trap Speed
- Elapsed Time and Trap Speed for standard intervals (60′, 330′, 1/8 Mi, 1000′)
- Lateral G’s (current and peak)
- Braking G’s (current and peak)
- Wheel Horsepower
- Estimated Engine Horsepower
You can also store runs, max speeds, peak horspower and more.

Car & Driver GTR Road Test
Wow, Car and Driver just tested the new GTR and the results stand up to the hype.
Here’s what the ‘at a glance’ numbers look like:
- Horsepower: 480 bhp @ 6400RPM
- Torque: 430 ft/lbs @ 7000RPM (!!!)
- 0-60: 3.3 seconds
- 1/4 Mile: 11.5 @ 124MPH
- Top Speed: 191MPH
- Lateral Gs: .99
- 70-0 Braking: 145ft
Here’s what gets me, and makes this vehicle so open to modifications – All the was achieved @ 10.7PSI. With an Intake, Downpipe Back Exhaust, some Fuel and a Reflash – is a mid 10-second pass plausible? With more then just basic Bolt Ons are we going to have a handful of 9 Second GTRs running around.

Want a GT-R? Got $129,000? You May Need It.
I’m all for free market economics. If a dealer wants to charge $60,000 over the sticker for a car and some idiot wants to pay it I’m all for it. But who is going to pay $130k for a Nissan?
Sure every tuner in the US has been cursing Nissan for not bringing it sooner. Sure every tuner in the US has lusted after the GT-R at some point or another. Sure there are some ridiculously wealthy people out there. But $60,000 over sticker?
