So Adidas got Porsche. Puma has Ferrari and BMW. Even Sabelt managed to nab Aston Martin – But no shoe maker shows any JDM Love? Well not anymore.
FILA has just announced a new line of shoes in conjunction with Honda Racing. Models are offered in mid and low tops, and a variety of colors. Although these aren’t on par with the Nomex covered Piloti’s or Puma Speedcats, they do sport a few driver firendly features, such as: cupped polyurethane heels, “ballistic” mesh for breathability, low profile outsoles for better pedal feel and a light weight design that helps reduce fatigue.
No ‘Type-R’ versions have yet been announced, but that might only be a matter of time, as Honda Racing has stated, these shoes are meant to “fulfill every car enthusiast’s racing dreams”. Perhaps a VTEC Model is in the works.
