COBB Tuning Press Release – Nissan GT-R Stainless Steel Y-Pipe

COBB Tuning 5C1212COBB Tuning is pleased to announce the COBB 3.5-inch Stainless Steel Y-Pipe for the Nissan GT-R. The stock y-pipe with factory catalytic converters is a restrictive element in the GT-R’s exhaust system. The COBB 3.5-inch SS Y-Pipe is offered in both catless and high-flow cat versions that reduce exhaust restriction and allow the GT-R to make more power with less effort.

The catted version of the COBB 3.5-inch SS Y-Pipe uses custom-spun high-flow metal substrate catalytic converters that improve flow while protecting the environment by reducing emissions. The catless racing y-pipe is for off-road use only and deletes the catalytic converters entirely, further improving flow and allowing even more power.

Both the catted and catless versions of the COBB 3.5-inch SS Y-Pipe are constructed of 304 stainless steel and TIG welded. The stainless steel flex sections are internally-lined for added lifespan and smoother exhaust flow. Dual 3-inch downpipes feed into a 3.5-inch main pipe. The Y-pipe is designed as a direct factory replacement part.

The following dyno chart compares a stock un-tuned Nissan GT-R, a stock Nissan GT-R with an AccessPORT Stage 1 tune, and a Nissan GT-R with the catless Y-Pipe and AccessPORT tune. At peak power, 28 HP and 46 ft/lb is gained with the catless y-pipe over Stage 1. Gains of up to 50HP can be found in the midrange. Power gains are similar between the catless and catted versions when using the stock GT-R turbos.

AEM Press Release – Scion tC ETI Intake System

AEM 41-1401C ETI

The stylish Scion tC has been attracting the attention of drivers since its introduction in 2005. Any driver looking for a compact car with good fuel mileage and stylish interior that is packed with an abundance of features should look into the Scion tC. The newer models from 2008 to 2010 have brought some needed improvements in the exterior and interior design. The addition of the iPod interface was also a nice touch. Although the Scion tC is a great buy for your money, the 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine is not very powerful.

To increase the power and performance in your 2008, 2009 or 2010 Scion tC, AEM Induction Systems has released a cold air intake system (41-1401C) that will fit the tight engine compartment of your vehicle.  The 41-1401C is not a typical cold air intake.  It was designed with AEM’s Electronically Tuned Intake (ETI) technology.

This cold air intake incorporates AEM’s ETI module which electronically adjusts the tC’s MAF sensor to properly read air density.  The result is an intake system that works with factory electronics and provides large horsepower and torque gains.  The 41-1401C completely replaces the Scion tC’s restrictive factory intake system with a gunmetal gray aluminum cold air intake.  This cold air intake connects at the engine throttle body and places the air filter at the driver side wheel well.  This ensures the delivery of cooler outside air to the engine.

The 41-1401C uses a DryFlow air filter, part 21-200DK. AEM’s oil-free DRYFLOW air filter is extremely durable and easy to clean.

Designed, tuned and dyno-tested to fit the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Scion tC, tests show the 41-1401C has an increase of 9 horsepower at 6400 rpm.  Installation is relatively simple and is accomplished using basic tools.  All AEM air intakes come with a limited lifetime warranty.

Password JDM Press Release – New Performance Brake Rotors

PW JDM Performance RotorsBrakes are the one area of performance modifications that are often misunderstood. Some think the OEM stock is fine, some think that BBKs are a must, and there are probably a dozen or so opinions about x-drilled and/or slotted rotors. Let’s set the record straight once and for all. Start with what you have, and if that currently works for you, keep it. When its time for you to upgrade the performance of your car and step up your driving style, then maybe its time to upgrade your brakes as well.

PWJDM Performance Brake Rotors are well thought out. Each design is first proven on a 3D CAD system and then modeled to fit the vane pattern unique to each rotor application. PWJDM’s goal has always been to improve performance without sacrificing quality. PWJDM starts off by sourcing blank rotors from the best foundries. Rotors are offered in 2 distinct designs. The first design is a X-drilled/slotted rotor that’s perfect for moderate to aggressive street use. The second design is a dimple drilled/slotted designed for track use. What makes our rotors different from the competition is that we perform all the slotting/drilling in house on our 3axis HAAS CNC machines using only American Made Carbide tooling for precision that’s unmatched by the competition. Each individual hole is also chamfered on the CNC machines as well. This does cost a bit more, but the cost is also offset by the fact that everything is done in house other than sourcing the blank rotors from the best foundries. Once drilled and slotted, each rotor is then individually zinc plated within a few hours to protect all raw surfaces against corrosion. Finding a rotor of this quality will probably cost you twice to three times as much with the competition.

X-Drilled/Slotted Rotors offer the best of both worlds in terms of street performance. X-drilling greatly improves brake response by giving pads the ability to quickly out gas and cool off during pad contact. The slots acts like “wipers” clearing the pad face and eliminating the “glaze” created by pad friction during contact. We found that this combination although a bit more expensive to produce, actually works best in most application. Use of these rotors has shown to greatly increase brake performance and pad life as a result of the additional cooling from x-drilling. We calculate the number of x-drills and slots based on the size of the rotor, the number of vanes and the application to optimize performance. We think it’s counterproductive to just drill as many holes in a rotor and calling it a performance item… that something the competition would do.

Dimple Drilled/Slotted Rotors offers the best of both worlds in terms of track performance. Dimple Drilling allows the rotors to outgas during contact without too much cooling. When on the track, what you want from a rotor is one that’s stable in temperature without the excessive heat cycling that will crack rotors over time. This design has proven itself time and again to get the job done and increase brake performance and still keeping the pad temps within an optimal heat range for the best in brake performance. The slots acts like “wipers” clearing the pad face and eliminating the “glaze” created by pad friction during contact. Through our extensive testing, Dimple drilling and slotting outperforms all other designs for track use. This is the best solution

As you can see, not all performance 1pc rotors are equal. PWJDM has taken the time to research and design a better rotor option. Our time as been well spent so you can have the best rotors on the market at a price that’s reasonable. These are definitely the best bang for your buck in these trying times. Buy a set today and start… I meant stop as soon as possible. Better brakes should definitely be high on your list of mods to do. When the time comes, remember PWJDM products

* Increase brake performance
* Cooler brake temps
* Shorten stopping distance
* Extend brake pad life
* 100% Machined in the USA
* Zinc plated to protect against corrosion

K&N Press Release – 2010 Camaro SS Performance Air Intake

K&N 69-4519TP

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is legendary among enthusiasts and consumers. As one of America’s favorite muscle cars, it offers old school looks and new school performance. K&N’s air intake system offers even more power to your pony car that will match its bad boy looks.

K&N performance air intake kit, part number 69-4519TP for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with a 6.2 liter V8 engine provides an incredible 18 horsepower increase at the rear wheels.

K&N’s Research and Development Department tested a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS with a 6.2 liter V8 engine on one of our in house dynamometers. Results showed an increase across the RPM range with a peak horsepower gain of 18.12 horsepower at 5200 RPM.

In addition to power gains, K&N’s air intake systems are also designed to increase filtering capacity and improve throttle response. The heat shields are engineered to isolate the oversized K&N chrome top high flow air filter, part number RF-1042 from engine bay heat.

This air intake kit also makes use of the Camaro’s factory fresh air duct which provides cooler outside air to the K&N air filter. This filter captures harmful particles, increases airflow and also increases service life. It will perform for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions.

The mass air sensor is installed in the 90 degree bright intake tube. The mass air sensor adaptors are precision CNC machined, 6061 billet aluminum for accurate mass air flow sensor readings.

It takes about 90 minutes to install the 69-4519TP. This K&N air intake system, like all other K&N air intake systems is backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
