The BMW X3 3.0L debuted on the luxury car scene back in 2004, and creating a compact crossover SUV, intended to handle like a tall sport sedan, was at first a challenge for the brand’s engineers. However, by all accounts it’s accurate to assess that the challenge has been overcome, as today the BMW X3 is one of most successful models in the company’s lineup.

The typical BMW model cycle is seven years, so even though the 2011 X3 shares the same sheet metal as its predecessor, this second generation, premium compact crossover, is all new from the wheels up. The 2011 model is slightly longer and wider and sits half an inch lower, delivering improved handling and an even better ride. The BMW X3 is powered by a 3.0L L-6 non-turbo engine that’s matched with either a six-speed manual, or six-speed automatic transmission. ACT’s new clutch kits for the applications above feature a Heavy Duty pressure plate that incorporates hardened diaphragm fingers for decreased wear and provides a 32 percent increase in clamp force over the stock unit.

The ACT Street Clutch Kits combine the Heavy Duty pressure plate and a Performance Street disc. The disc features special performance organic friction materials able to withstand increased heat and abuse, steel-backed linings for highburst strength and modifications engineered for quicker shifting. The ACT Street Clutch Kits provide a moderate and consistent pedal feel, smooth engagement, significantly improved durability and increased torque capacity up to 455 lbs./ft.

ACT Race Clutch Kits combine a Heavy Duty pressure plate with an Xtreme Race Disc and will hold up to 585 lbs./ft. of torque. AEM‘s new wideband UEGO (Universal Exhaust Gas Oxygen) gauges are the perfect union of function and aesthetics in one compact and affordable package, designed to relay accurate and precise air/fuel ratios (AFRs) for precision performance tuning and engine protection.

AEM has released two options for these high performance gauges – the analog 30-5130 gauge and controller and the digital 30-4100 gauge and controller. Both gauges are 52mm (2-1/16″) and come with interchangeable black and white faceplates to match the gauges already in the vehicle and interchangeable black and silver bezels. The 30-5130 analog gauge has 7 different backlighting color options: white, blue, green, red, orange, light blue and aqua, to match most factory gauge clusters, and the digital 30-4100 gauge also comes with a black lambda faceplate. The lambda faceplate allows the use of almost any fuel as long as the stoichiometric value for the fuel is known.

The beauty of these gauges isn’t just skin deep. The AEM UEGO gauges utilize a Bosch LSU4.2 wideband O2 sensor, providing for a very short warm-up time of less than 20 seconds and very accurate AFR readings. These sensors are individually calibrated and a resistor integral at the connector body is laser trimmed with this value. This process replaces the traditional “free air” calibration procedure when changing sensors and implements a sensor specific calibration for unparalleled accuracy. These gauges also utilize AEM’s internal UEGO controller to convey accurate and repeatable AFR readings. The sensor’s accuracy is +/- 0.1 of an AFR point. The digital 30-4100 gauge utilizes a 24 color-coded LED display and digital readout and the analog 30-5130 gauge has an easily visible red needle to provide immediate reference to the engine’s AFR.

Perhaps one of the most convenient features of AEM’s high performance UEGO gauges is their flexibility. They can connect to most aftermarket EMS and/or data loggers with their user-programmable 0-5v output and can accurately monitor air/fuel ratios on gasoline, methanol, ethanol, propane, and CNG applications. They also come with a weld-in O2 sensor bung to ensure optimal placement for the most accurate readings and sensor longevity.

AEM’s 30-5130 and 30-4100 UEGO gauges are the perfect wideband AFR gauges for performance and custom applications. They provide quick and accurate air/fuel ratio information in a clean and compact package at an affordable price, and they fit in perfectly in the long legacy of AEM’s performance gauges.
