The story of the Ford Taurus could easily be mistaken for an action-filled Hollywood drama – a glimmer of hope breaking onto the scene and rising to infamy, which then wanes in the face of adversity and questions its identity before finding a renewed spirit and making a triumphant return. Ford brought the Ford Taurus to life in 1986 as a fuel efficient, comfortable and reliable sedan and it did just that, and more. It became an iconic American-made machine, but began losing ground in the 2000s to Japanese auto manufacturers; however, Ford has restored power, fuel efficiency, and style to the Taurus name with the new generation Taurus, and specifically the SHO trim level.
The new Ford Taurus SHO comes with all-wheel-drive standard and Ford’s new twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost motor. This power plant pumps out 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque while still delivering an impressive EPA estimated 25 mpg on the highway. And now, 2011 SHO owners can have even more horsepower and performance with K&N‘s 69-3531TS Typhoon performance intake system.
The 69-3531TS intake system is precision designed for the SHO Taurus and provides an estimated 12 horsepower boost with 13 pound-feet of torque at 5327 RPM. This system replaces the restrictive factory intake system with a streamlined aluminum intake tube and oversized K&N air filter for low restriction. It also comes with a heat shield to isolate the incoming air from the radiant heat of the engine.
The 69-3531TS intake system maintains all factory connections, does not require any modifications to factory programming, and is very easy to install. It will provide outstanding air filtration and great looks under the hood. The K&N air filter on the intake is washable and reusable, and the entire system is backed by K&N’s Million Mile Limited Warranty.
