COBB Tuning Press Release – Secondary Oil Cooler for Nissan GT-R

COBB Tuning GT-R Oil Cooler

COBB Tuning announces the availability of the Limited Edition Secondary Oil Cooler kit for the Nissan GT-R R35. The COBB Secondary Oil Cooler reduces high engine oil temperatures that occur during extreme driving conditions. This kit utilizes an auxiliary oil cooling core that seamlessly integrates with the OEM oil cooling system, significantly reducing oil temperatures without compromise. Whether pounding around the racetrack or canyon carving during blistering heat, the COBB Secondary Oil Cooler lets your GT-R keep its cool.

Additional horsepower, high ambient temperatures, high altitude and aggressive driving can all contribute to elevated oil temperature. Lower oil temperature ensures better engine protection and longer engine life. Extensive racing and testing data shows that the COBB Secondary Oil Cooler is capable of reducing oil temperatures from extreme peaks of 130C/266F (OEM redline) to acceptable operating temperatures in the 110C/230F range.

This elegantly engineered kit sits opposite the OEM oil cooler in the unused driver side bumper duct. The design is optimized to work with the OEM oil cooler duct, which is included in this kit. Oil flow return from the OEM oil cooler is diverted to the COBB Secondary Oil Cooler for an additional oil cooling stage before being redirected back to the OEM oil return.

Execution of the COBB Secondary Oil Cooler kit leaves nothing to be desired. A Mocal air-to-oil core is used for efficiency and durability. The core is mounted to the chassis using a custom CAD designed powdercoated bracket that is designed to work with the included OEM oil cooler duct. The adaptor fittings are custom CAD designed and CNC machined aluminum with black anodizing. All hose ends are high quality aluminum -10 AN fittings with an attractive black and titanium anodized finish. Hoses are preassembled using smooth bore, lightweight synthetic rubber interiors with black nylon overbraid and encased in XRP Fyrefoil 2 radiant heat shielding for additional thermal resistance. The replacement gaskets are Nissan OEM parts.

AEM Press Release – Customize your Scion xA & xB with an AEM Intake

AEM 21-570P

The Scion brand has been associated with the customizing enthusiast from the start. The first Scion to hit U.S. shores was the xB, with its unique boxy shape and shockingly large cabin; the “little bus” quickly infiltrated the streets of America.  Shortly thereafter, performance parts manufacturers began offering an array of products for the xB. A few years later, Scion expanded their lineup with the tC and xA. The tC took the role of the sporty coupe and the xA model was almost a hybrid of both the xB and tC. Each vehicle is definitely different, however all Scions share some features.

One of the main similarities of the xA and xB is the 1.5-liter engine. This little engine is excellent on gas mileage, but leaves little extra power for performance straight from the factory. To increase the performance output of the 2006 Scion xA and 2004 to 2006 Scion xB, AEM Induction Systems has released a new Cold Air intake system (21-570P) that fits these vehicles.

The 21-570P Cold Air intake was designed to fit the tight engine compartments of the Scion xA and xB. It completely replaces the vehicles’ restrictive factory intake systems with a polished aluminum cold air intake system. The system begins at the 1.5-liter engine’s throttle body and routes to the driver’s side wheel well. The cold air configuration ensures the delivery of cool air, while the included Air Bypass Valve virtually eliminates the chance of hydro-locking the engine.

The 21-570P locates a DRYFLOW air filter, part 21-200DK, in the driver’s side wheel well. The 21-200DK has a 2.25-inch (57mm) inlet diameter and a height of 5.125-inches (130mm) allowing a smooth flow of air to the Scion engine. The oil-free DRYFLOW technology is extremely durable and easy to clean.

Mercedes-Benz Pops the Cork on the New SLS AMG Gullwing

SLS AMG Gullwing

The retro craze has seemed to have left no manufacturer unaffected.  Toyota revived their FJ Cruiser, Chevy brought back the Camaro, but possibly most impressive: Mercedes has just rolled out the SLS AMG, a throwback to the 300SL Gullwing from the 1950’s and 60’s.

The new Mercedes-Benz Gullwing is so much more then a new take on an old concept.  Take for example the engine, the 300SL had, for it’s time, a very impressive 3.0L Inline Six.  The SLS AMG however comes out guns blazing with 6.3 Liter AMG V8 pushing our 563 Horsepower and 480 Foot Pounds of Torque.  That, along with it’s predominantly carbon fiber body, is good for 3.7 0-60 times and a top speed just shy of 200MPH.

Every Mishimoto fan shroud is significantly lighter and more durable than OEM fan shrouds and will notably improve engine cooling performance and appearance. Mishimoto fan shroud kit increase your cars cooling performance by delivering a significant amount of air to the radiator while removing excess heat from your engine. The aluminum shroud also safely secures the fan blades from potentially damaging other essential engine components.

K&N Press Release – Chevy Corvette Performance Air Intake

K&N 63-3073

The Chevrolet Corvette’s performance is legendary among enthusiasts and general consumers alike. As America’s premier sports coupe, the Corvette rivals cars that cost four times as much. This makes the Corvette an excellent buy, offering a lot of bang for the buck. A K&N air intake system is also legendary for offering an outstanding level of performance for the money. Offering a guaranteed horsepower gain, K&N’s air intake systems will make it seem like you have a different car.

K&N’s 63-3073 for the 2008 and 2009 Corvette with a 6.2 liter V8 engine provides an incredible 17 horsepower increase at the rear wheels. K&N’s Research and Development Department tested a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette with a 6.2 liter V8 engine on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed an increase across the RPM range with a dramatic peak horsepower gain of 17.72 horsepower @ 4,750 RPM! K&N’s 63-3073 provides increased performance while maintaining that “O/E” look with a rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube.

K&N air intakes completely replace the restrictive factory air intake assembly with an aerodynamically engineered tube and an oversized air filter. K&N’s rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tubes offer the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers. With a K&N performance air intake system, consumers can count on increased acceleration and horsepower whether winding along a lonely country road or passing cars on a highway.

K&N 63-3073 Installed
This air intake system uses a uniquely shaped carbon fiber high-flow air filter (RP-5161).  This filter captures harmful particles, increases airflow, and also increases service life. This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. The 63-3073 takes about 90 minutes or less to install, using simple hand tools, requires no cutting or drilling, and is covered by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.

For increased protection and style, K&N offers a Drycharger filter wrap number RP-5135DK that can be used in conjunction with the 63-3073 air intake.  Drychargers are made from a durable polyester material containing uniform micron openings which will stop small dirt particles and repel water; yet add little restriction to the airflow of the filter.

New Lexus LF-Ch Targets A3/1Series…

Lexus LF-Ch

The Lexus LF-Ch is being put in the ring as Toyota’s A3 / 1-Series fighter. This little hatch was supposed to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week,  but per usual pics have been leaked before the big curtain call.  This hybid/tuner/hatch seems to be in either concept mode or body kit mode as I can’t imagine those ducts (or wheels…ugh) making it into production, however, it’s interesting to see Lexus’ take on the hatchback market.

Ksport Press Release – Ksport to Move Headquarters

KSport

Autoline Industries and Ksport USA are proud to announce the relocation of their world headquarters to a new, larger facility in Gilbert, Arizona.  The relocation of Ksport’s headquarters comes after a record-breaking year in sales, product introductions, racing success and increased employee headcount, thus demanding the extra needed space.  The new facility will bring Ksport USA’s total footprint up to 25,000 square feet – a much needed increase in space to accommodate the extraordinary workflow, inventory movement and product development.

Previous to now, Ksport USA has performed much of the product development overseas and in California, in addition to the current headquarters in Phoenix, AZ.  “We’re trying to develop our domestic (USA) products in the actual market, or within the United States.  That extra local development requires additional space for shock dynamometers, test vehicles, race cars, tools, jigs and so forth.  Having more space to expand our engineering and test operations will make Ksport’s development process more efficient, provide higher quality and allow us to deliver new applications much sooner”, according to Nick Jackson, CEO of Ksport USA.  Added to the development space, Ksport claims the newer facility will accommodate their assembly line style format for shipping and receiving, therefore helping with demanding delivery schedules both domestically and internationally.

With the initial phase of the move and building updates already in the works, Ksport USA plans to be fully acclimated to the new facility by September 21st, 2009.  “We had to implement a very structured and very strict schedule for moving our employees, inventory and accessories in an effort to keep the workflow and day to day business operations going well.  No business transactions will be affected during the process due to a lot of advanced planning”, said Jackson.  Ksport plans to have an elaborate opening celebration once the move is finished, complete with several guests, demo vehicles and even a visit from the FedEX NASCAR team.  Stay tuned for more details and contact info@ksportusa.com with any questions or comments.
